Welcome to Jason’s Coffee Chronicles, my newly launched blog! Do you feel the crisp, new vibe around here? The paint is still wet, so be careful!
You may be asking yourself, “How did I get here?” “Who is this guy?”
Let me tell you, you’re here because the coffee scent lured you in, and hopefully, you’ll stay to enjoy some stories and maybe an interview or two.
I’ve had numerous blogs and enjoyed writing and interacting with the readers on each one. However, I thought it was time for something new. I want to fill this space with creativity.
A Bit Of Background
I have always wanted to be a writer. My entire life, I’ve enjoyed putting words on paper. I was the kid in class who enjoyed writing assignments while everyone else was moaning about it. My mom even says that when I was two years old, I carried a pen and paper around. I guess some things are just a part of who you are.
In high school, an excellent English teacher drilled writing into us. I was in love with her class, even the red ink pointing out my shortcomings.
After high school, I went to college to pursue my dream of becoming a journalist/writer. However, I suffered from so much anxiety that it crept into every part of my life, and I ended up dropping out. I regret that I never knew what was wrong with me. I thought maybe I just wasn’t motivated enough, perhaps I was lazy, or I wasn’t smart enough. But, the fact was and is I’ve fought anxiety my entire life—bad anxiety.
After that, I constantly stared at blank pages and computer screens. Everything inside of me wanted to put words down and create something. I wanted to write stories, poems, and even songs, that made people feel as deeply as I did. I felt utterly lost and unprepared to do so, yet I tried my best.
Later, I found a friend who had pushed me into writing again. He was amazing at writing stories and began to teach me things. The biggest thing I learned was to write, even when you don’t feel like it. Writing is a muscle that has to be worked. The more you do it, the better you will get.
With his guidance, I even finished a novel during NaNoWriMo in 2011. Then, I did it again in 2015. Both books can be found on Amazon, though only one is suitable for reading. I also shared many blog posts with flash fiction, short stories, and interviews. I was bound and determined to continue to make this dream a reality.
Now, at almost 49, I’m returning to college for a creative writing and English degree. I want to soak up everything I can to learn how to transform these letters and words into magical masterpieces. That brings us here to today.
A Blend Of Interests
If you choose to follow along, you may wonder what you will be reading. Let me tell you, you are in for a treat. I have so many things I’d like to share, and I understand I should probably narrow things down and find a niche. Who knows, maybe that niche will become evident when I’ve done this for a while. For now, I’m going to share a little bit of everything.
You may show up here one day and read a beautiful story about hope and love, and the next time you pop your head in, it may be a story of tragedy and loss. I may choose to write about one of my favorite coffee spots from around the world that I’ve been to. Or maybe, I’ll share an entire travel story. No matter what the focus of the writing is, you will find me. I will be in everything you read. I would also like to do some interviews with people I look up to, or whose art I enjoy.
There you have it—the blueprint of our journey together. “Jason’s Coffee Chronicles” is not just a blog; it’s a ticket to explore the world through the lens of coffee, travel, and the magic of writing. So, grab your favorite mug, settle in, and embark on this journey together. Are you ready to explore the world one post at a time? Let the adventure begin!
